Sharjah Mainland Company Setup Process

Setting up a business in Sharjah Mainland involves the following steps, managed by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD):

1. Trade Name Reservation

Reserve a unique trade name with SEDD, ensuring it meets the necessary guidelines (including legal designation, avoiding religious or governmental terms, and obtaining embassy approval for country names).

2. Initial Approval

Obtain initial approval from SEDD, confirming there are no objections from the government. Some activities may require additional approvals from relevant authorities.

3. Memorandum of Association (MOA)

Prepare a notarized MOA based on your chosen business structure (e.g., LLC), which outlines ownership, responsibilities, and operational rules.

4. Office Space or Business Location

Secure a physical office space and register your tenancy contract with the Sharjah Land Department.

5. External Approvals (If Required)

Certain businesses (e.g., legal consultancies, healthcare, or engineering firms) may require approvals from additional government bodies.

6. Business License Issuance

Lastly submit the following documents to SEDD to receive your business license;Trade name reservation certificate, Initial approval confirmation, Registered tenancy contract,Notarized and attested MOA & Any external approvals (if applicable).

Sharjah Mainland UAE Visa Process

Once your business license is issued, you can proceed with the visa application process if your package includes visa allocation.

Step 1: Establishment Card Application

Apply for the company’s establishment card, which is required to initiate any visa-related procedures.

Step 2: E-Channel Registration

Register for e-channel services (mandatory for all Emirates except Dubai) to facilitate visa and immigration services.

Step 3: Submit E-Visa Application

After e-channel registration, submit your e-visa application with the following documents:

  • Passport copy
  • Business license
  • Current visa or cancellation document (if applicable)
  • Company establishment card
  • Passport-sized photo (white background)

Step 4: Change of Status

Once the e-visa is issued, if you are outside the UAE, you can enter with the e-visa and apply for a change of status. If you are already in the UAE during visa application, you will be issued an e-visa plus a Change of Status. Afterward, you must complete a medical test and apply for your Emirates ID within 30 days.

Step 5: Emirates ID Application

In the UAE, residency visas are no longer stamped on passports. Your Emirates ID serves as your proof of residency. Documents required for the Emirates ID application include:

  • Passport
  • Passport-sized photos
  • E-visa
  • Change of status confirmation
  • Business license
  • Establishment card
  • Emirates ID application form
  • Medical test results
  • Health insurance (if required)

Step 6: Emirates ID Issuance

After completing the biometrics process, your Emirates ID will be issued.
